I play the question game with my boys. If you could have a superpower, what would it be? If you would change your name to anything, what would you choose? If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be? A few nights ago, one of them asked, if you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would you eat?
I had to give this one some serious thought. My homemade tomato sauce with garlic bread, spaghetti with burned butter and plain potato chips with dip rounded out my top three.
For obvious reasons one can’t live solely off tomato sauce, bread, pasta and chips, but just imagine …
I didn’t make any food resolutions this year. For one, I don’t believe in resolutions. I believe in choosing a word for the year and trying to live by it. Last year I chose breathe. This year it’s go. Secondly, I can’t imagine eliminating anything from my diet unless it was medically necessary to do so and thirdly, I just like chewing way too much to settle for these liquid detox diets – even if it’s just for a few days.
I do like my snacks, and I try to balance out my love for chocolate-covered almonds with healthier alternatives, not chock-full of empty calories.
Recently, a friend introduced me to Snack Break. It’s a snack-based subscription service that delivers healthier treats right to your doorstep to satisfy that 3 pm slump.
Snack Break was developed by Leslie Heller after spending 16 years leading teams and working in large corporations in various roles from product development to strategy and operations. Couple these experiences with Leslie’s interest in healthy living and his desire to feed his children quality but convenient snacks, and Snack Break was born.
Leslie scours the health food shops, researches ingredients and sources the best on the market so you don’t have to. All of the snacks are personally chosen by the Snack Break team and meet one or more of the following criteria: organic, raw, gluten-free, Non-GMO, whole-grain, vegan, source of fibre, lower glycemic response and no artificial sweeteners.
There are 4 subscription options starting at $35 (contains 9-12 snacks) all the way to $99 (contains 35-40 snacks for larger office teams) or even have a custom box created for larger groups/events, and are delivered monthly with free shipping.
How It Works:
- Select your Snack Break box size
- Receive your Snack Break box at your home or office
See how simple that is? If for any reason you wish to modify, pause or stop your order it’s easy to do. The Snack Break team will take care of it for you.
The Snack Break box contains lots of yummy goodies, a number of them contain nuts and in this house where 2 of our 3 boys are allergic, so not all of us were able to enjoy them. However, it has been great for us: easy to keep in the gym bag, the purse, and the desk drawer.
What I like about this subscription service is that it’s easy. When the urge for a treat hits, something is already waiting for me that is a healthy alternative to the vending machine or nearby coffee shop. I’m always on the look out for gift ideas to give those people who have everything, and this fits the bill with their 3 and 6 month subscription options. Imagine receiving this on your doorstep?
Sign up for our newsletter, Plenty More, and receive a discount code for Snack Break with this month’s issue!
Full Disclosure: The Snack Break team did not pay us for this review. They did provide us with a box to sample (yum!) but all the opinions expressed are my own. I can’t be bought with kale chips.
