Nothing says peak summer like the colours arrayed at a farmer’s market with tables heaped with fresh local fruit and vegetables, and the opening of our neighbourhood markets has us thinking of all things local, our theme for June.
It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it. We have been diligently visiting local restaurants, distilleries and attractions so that we can share our stories about living local.
Carol, Beth-Anne and I shared an amazing feast at b.good, a restaurant devoted to “food with roots.” They source local food and beverages (even beer and wine!) to provide diners with healthy and clean options for food made fast and for catering events. We will share what we learned and what we loved eating.
Our experience at a tour and tasting event at Spirit of York, Toronto’s newest craft distillery, has us raving. Spirit of York is the epitome of craft in its most elevated form: their spirits are created with the care and passion that define masters of their craft. As soon as you get a taste of their vodka and gin, you will share that passion!
We will hear all about MumNet, a Toronto Mums’ group that helps women face the challenges of motherhood by fostering their emotional, mental, and physical well-being in a mutually supportive, community-based group environment.
We will also have loads of ideas for Father’s Day gifts in our gift guide, as well as recommended reads for kids.
As always, you can see more on our social accounts. Find us on Instagram where we will be expanding our coverage of all things local this month.
