For Mother’s day, I’m all about the consumables. Less stuff, more party in my mouth. In that consuming but not consumerist spirit, here are some suggestions to take you from brunch to tea to dinner.
Change up your chocolate spread game with something new from 4th & Heart: Chocti Chocolate Ghee Spread. This healthier alternative to sugary spreads is made from cacao, dates and Madagascar vanilla bean ghee, it’s low-glycemic, nut-free and lactose-free, and it’s delicious! Spread on toast or sweet breads, slather on crepes, or check out their many recipes for ways to sweeten the morning (afternoon and evening). Available on amazon.
If it’s a Mother’s Day Tea you’re planning, try these tiny bites of delight: Calissons du Roy René. With a heritage that dates back to 1454, these cookie-like sweets are made from finely ground almonds, candied melon fruit and orange peel, set on a thin layer of wafer and topped with royal icing. They are a sweet and sophisticated addition to a high tea. Available from Pusateri’s and Holt Renfrew.
Flowers are lovely, but if you’d like to offer a different kind of blossom, check out these gorgeous and delicious individual apple pies from Chudleigh’s. Chudleigh’s Apple Crumble Blossom gift box is a limited edition gift box that includes ten fully baked crumble crunch apple blossoms, made from scratch with freshly peeled Northern Spy Apples. Chudleigh’s will deliver them right to someone’s door in the GTA in celebration of the special day. Order here.
Happy Mother’s Day!
